Odisha ended their campaign in the East Zone Senior Women Cricket Tournament on a winning note with the Madhusmita Behera-led team routing Jharkhand by eight wickets in their fourth and last league match at Guwahati today. This was the first win for the Odisha side, which earlier lost the first three matches against Assam, Tripura and Bengal by five wickets, 21 runs and 38 runs respectively.
Former India opener Madhuri Maheta and Priyanka Sahu made impressive contributions in the win over Jharkhand with the former hitting an unbeaten 49 with the help of seven boundaries and the latter scalping four wickets for 15 runs. Meheta and skipper Behera laid the foundation of the victory, stitching together 64 runs in their opening-wicket partnership. The win fetched Odisha five points, while Jharkhand secured one point.
